Day 31 of 49: Be humble

Day 31 of 49: Be humble

Inspirational training in the mix of challenging guesthouse arrivals.

Theme for Day 31: Be humble.

This new theme resonated significantly in terms of a consciousness I aspire to experience my life through. I will be forever grateful to Peter Sage for including these Michael Beckwith teachings, the four stages of spiritual growth, in his Millionaire Business School curriculum, which is where I was first taught them.

In a nutshell…

..each of these four stages affects how we experience the world. To move from one to the next requires a willingness to let go of a particular construct. Click here for a more detailed explanation.

The first stage or level of awareness is called ‘to me’ where we experience ourselves as victims of life, the world and our circumstances, with life happening ‘to us’.

To move beyond ‘to me’ to the next stage of ‘by me’ requires a willingness to let go of blame and assume personal responsibility.

In the ‘by me’ stage there is a focus on being the cause, the creator of our world, our reality. We dig deep to make changes and take action.

To move beyond ‘by me’ to the next stage ‘through me’ requires a willingness to let go of the need for control, and a stepping into an experience of flow, where the creative force moves ‘through us’.

It’s trust and a sense of connectedness, a humility at being a part of something greater than ourselves, that breaths life into the ‘through me’ stage. This is the consciousness that I feel drawn. I hear it gently, lovingly beckoning me. Especially when I find myself getting stuck between ‘to me’ and ‘by me’, like I have been today!

Comfort.

I know I’ve said this before. I am deeply grateful for Rumi’s guesthouse. It’s been a source of solace too many times to mention.

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

I especially love it for message of embracing the whole human experience, allowing for the flow and movement of the entire emotional spectrum with a reminder to engage lightly with gratitude and respect, with a humble willingness to receive guidance, to learn.

I most certainly needed this reassurance today as I found myself at times panicking and feeling overwhelmed as far as looming financial responsibilities and no clarity as to which direction to focus my attention, as I continue to sew a mixed batch of seeds, not yet focusing on a single harvest. It’s as if I’m still more in the experimental phase, trying to work out which environment is optimum, learning through trial and error and trusting the process, needing to be humble to admitting ‘I don’t know’, while willing to learn and keep trying.

Inspirational trainings.

I attended some kickass free sessions today. From a morning in person sales training with Barry Mitchell to an evening online marketing series with Marie Forleo. They are both passionate about developing relationships and building trust through valuable content and authentic sharing.

I loved how their material transcended the sales and marketing arenas, and was just as powerfully applicable to life! It was great to be reminded of the power of questions and investing the time to discover what’s important to another.

A little stuck producing copy.

I’ve mostly written for myself. There was a time I was assisting SMEs with their email communication strategies and assisted from a copy and content writing perspective. Today I had a meeting with a potential client and have found it challenging getting her brief done and dusted! I think the time has come to I step away from further attempts and pick up again tomorrow. Fresh energy, new perspective!

Thank you Day 31!
